Audio Transcription
Audio transcription is when an audio recording is transcribed as a written document. This can then be repurposed for a number of different uses, such as a report or for use on a blog. There are several types of audio transcribing and at Grammarkable, we offer three types: verbatim, edited and intelligent. Read the descriptions below, to learn more about each type.
Verbatim Transcription
Verbatim transcription is a type of transcription that captures every word and sound in a recording, including all pauses, stutters and mispronunciations. This type of transcription is often used for legal or medical purposes, or when accurate records of a conversation are required.
Edited Transcription
Edited transcription is when the audio is transcribed with minor editing applied, so that unnecessary words and sentences are omitted. This results in a more streamlined document, which is easier to read. The document will retain all of the important aspects of the original audio. Pauses, stutters and repeated words are removed, unless they are necessary to convey the intended message of the original recording.
Intelligent Transcription
Intelligent transcription is similar to edited transcription, in that it involves the audio being transcribed with unnecessary words and sentences being omitted. However, where it differs, is that entire paragraphs may also be removed, if they are not required. This type of transcription results in a shorter and more concise document.
Proofreading
Proofreading involves reviewing a document for errors, which are then corrected. These errors can range from spelling errors, to grammatical errors. In addition, formatting and punctuation errors are also corrected.
Typing
Our typing service (also known as copy typing) allows your documents to be typed exactly as they are received. This is useful if a client has a hand-written document, which needs to be typed. Files will be typed single-spaced as standard, up to a maximum of 500 words per page.
Please note, this is a typing-only service, where the original source material will be typed exactly as it is received, without any grammatical amendments or corrections being made. Should amendments need to be made, the proofreading option can be selected on the pricing calculator when requesting a quote (additional costs apply).
